My MG Metro Turbo
<----- Click on the images to expand ----->
This was my very first car, I was given the car when I was 13 and is probably one of the main reason why I have such a keen interest in cars.
I have always been a mechanically minded person, so when I was given the car by a generous uncle I saw it as a challenge that un-be-known to me at the time would lead the way to being one of the biggest teaching blocks of my life.
The car was in a very sorry state when I got it, with alot of mould and the rot worm was happily chomping its way through the body work as is soo common with these cars. So below is the some what cut down version of events with a few pictures:
This is how the car looked after a while of cleaning/de-moulding:
With a keen interest in cars, but an education on computers I have been a member of online car clubs for some time. One day I came accross an advert from someone who said they were "looking for cars which have been handed down from a family member and isn't a very cool car". So I thought a metro would be the perfect car for them. After a few emails back and forth they agreed.
It turned out it was Top Gear who wanted to run a series of 'pimp my ride' style fill-ins. The car went off to a bloke called Andy Saunders who did a superb job of sorting the body work. Fitting Golf MK3 Headlights, Pug 106 rear lights and getting rid of the rust.
After getting the car back Top Gear decided to change the layout of the set and dropped the episode, unfortunate for Andy who had done the car as part of a promotion to show off his work, but worked out well for me!

Whilst fixing the engine one thing that became apparent was that the turbo needed replacing.

After a short time on the road (and its anyones guess how the MOT garage missed this) it became apparent the drivers floor needed replacing.

And here she is all done and on the road, all be it not a very long life on the road.

Unfortunatley the car devoloped a fault, which has left everyone stumped. The car is now sitting in the garage waiting for me to finally do something with her, current thought is, sort the engine (somehow) and turn it into a trike, either that or sell her.......
When the fault occured I went about finding a replacement, that came in the form of my Cavalier SRi.
